STF31 SFA Annual Awards

The STF31 SFA Annual Awards are awards listed below that are awarded on an annual basis for actions, achievements and accomplishments throughout the previous calendar year. These awards are for the individual member.

DIRECTOR OF THE YEAR

 Criteria:

These awards are given to those SFA Staff persons who have gone above and beyond the call of duty to serve the membership as a whole.
 
Members of the faculty and staff nominate one faculty member. The person who is nominated the most times is the awardee.
Ribbon Description

Purple and Yellow Gold and a Gold 3 Pointed Star

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF THE YEAR

  Criteria:

These awards are given to those SFA Staff persons who have gone above and beyond the call of duty to serve the membership as a whole.
 
Members of the faculty and staff nominate one faculty member. The person who is nominated the most times is the awardee.
Ribbon Description:

Bambu Green and Yellow

COLLEGE OF THE YEAR

Criteria:

Chosen by calculating a numerical formula of number of graduates divided by the number of courses a College offers, in addition to Director performance. This allows active small Colleges to compete fairly with slower large Colleges.
Ribbon Description:

Grey, Gold, Robo Blue and Red

INSTITUTE DEAN OF THE YEAR

Criteria:

These awards are given to those SFA Staff persons who have gone above and beyond the call of duty to serve the membership as a whole.
 
Members of the faculty and staff nominate one faculty member. The person who is nominated the most times is the awardee.
Ribbon Description:

Red and White
 

INSTITUTE ASSISTANT DEAN OF THE YEAR

  Criteria:

These awards are given to those SFA Staff persons who have gone above and beyond the call of duty to serve the membership as a whole.
 
Members of the faculty and staff nominate one faculty member. The person who is nominated the most times is the awardee.
 
Ribbon Description:

Robo Blue and Cobalt Blue

INSTITUE OF THE YEAR

Criteria:

These awards are given to those SFA Staff persons who have gone above and beyond the call of duty to serve the membership as a whole.
 
Members of the faculty and staff nominate one faculty member. The person who is nominated the most times is the awardee.
Ribbon Description:

Red, Burgundy, Gold and Teal

SUPPORT STAFF MEMBER OF THE YEAR

Criteria:

These awards are given to those SFA Staff persons who have gone above and beyond the call of duty to serve the membership as a whole.
 
Members of the faculty and staff nominate one faculty member. The person who is nominated the most times is the awardee.
Ribbon Description:

Purple and Magenta

COMMANDANT’S STAR AWARD

Criteria:

This award is given annually to one of the Academy personnel who, as far as the Commandant is concerned, has gone above and beyond the normal expectation of his or her normal Academy duties.
This Award is given in a form of special certificate given at the time of the annual International Conference. This Award is listed in the respective staff member’s records for historical purposes.

Bambu Matt Dark Red and Pumpkin Orange

RED SQUADRON LEADER

Criteria:

At the end of the calendar year, the Director of each non-Cadet College nominates the best adult student from their College, based on graduates for the entire year. The student who gains the most nominations across the Academy becomes Red Squad Leader.

Red with Gold Strips

ASSISTANT RED SQUADRON LEADER

Criteria:

At the end of the calendar year, the Director of each non-Cadet College nominates the best adult student from their college, based on graduates for the entire year. The student who gains the second-most nominations across the Academy becomes Red Squad Assistant Leader.
 
Ribbon Description:

Red with Silver Strips

RED SQUAD MEMBER

Criteria:

At the end of the calendar year, the Director of each College nominates the best adult student from their college, based on graduates for the entire year. After the Red Squad Leader and Red Squad Assistant Leader are chosen, the rest of the nominees become Red Squad Members for the previous year.

Red with Bronze Strips

BLUE SQUADRON LEADER

Criteria:

At the end of the year, directors will report their best Cadet student. The Cadet who gets the most nominations becomes BLUE SQUAD LEADER.
Ribbon Description:

True Blue with Gold Strips

ASSISTANT BLUE SQUADRON LEADER

Criteria:

At the end of the year, directors will report their best Cadet student. The Cadet who gets the second-most nominations becomes BLUE SQUAD ASSISTANT LEADER.
 
Ribbon Description:

True Blue with Silver Strips

BLUE SQUAD MEMBER

Criteria:

At the end of the year, directors will report their best Cadet student. After the Blue Squad Leader and Assistant Blue Squad Leader have been chosen, the rest of the nominees become Blue Squad Members for the previous year.
 
Ribbon Description:

True Blue with Bronze Strips

GOLD SQUADRON LEADER

Criteria:

At the end of the year, each Director nominates the families who completed exams together. Unlike the procedure for Red and Blue Squads, the Gold Squad Leaders will be determined by the top most combination of the number of nominations and the average number of courses each family member took. This is to provide a balance due to the various sizes of families. 
Ribbon Description:

Gold Metallic with Gold Strips

ASSISTANT GOLD SQUADRON LEADER

Criteria:

At the end of the year, each Director nominates the families who completed exams together. Unlike the procedure for Red and Blue Squads, the Assistant Gold Squad Leaders will be determined by the second most combination of the number of nominations and the average number of courses each family member took. This is to provide a balance due to the various sizes of families.

GOLD SQUAD MEMBER

Criteria:

At the end of the year, each Director nominates the families who completed exams together. After the Gold Squad Leaders and Assistant Gold Squad Leaders are chosen, All remaining families will receive Gold Squad Member awards.

Gold Metallic with Bronze Strips
